REUBEN MEZRICH M.D., Ph.D. AND NEAL WALKER M.D. JOIN FMS BOARD OF ADVISORS

 

 

Princeton, NJ -- September 7, 2006 -– FMS announced today the appointment of two key individuals, Professor Reuben Mezrich and Dr. Neal Walker to its Board of Advisors.    

            Professor Mezrich is serving currently as the Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Dr. Mezrich has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and received his M.D. from University of Miami.  Earlier in his career Dr. Mezrich had worked as an electrical engineer at Johnson and Johnson and played a key role in the development of ultrasound mammography systems to detect breast cancer.  Professor Mezrich’s prior academic appointments include stints at Harvard and University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Mezrich holds 25 patents.  As both a physician and engineer, Dr. Mezrich has a unique understanding of how innovative technology can be used to extend the frontiers of research and improve patient care. 

Dr. Walker is co-founder of Octagon Research Solutions. He is a Board-certified Dermatologist with nearly ten years of experience as a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. He has worked as a medical consultant for Johnson & Johnson, AstraMerck and AstraZeneca. Additionally, he has served on the Advisory committee safety team for Prescription to OTC switch of Prilosec®.  Dr. Walker has also worked with Vanderbilt University's life science fund assisting the venture firm in the identification and due diligence of medically-related technologies and business concepts. After graduating from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Walker completed his internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. Dr. Walker then served as Chief Resident of the Dermatology Residency Program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for 2 years. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Walker received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Lehigh University.
